Hi, I'm Emily!
I'm a child therapist who specializes in working with sensitive kids with anxiety. I deeply understand the specific challenges that come with supporting kids who feel overwhelmed, are hard on themselves, afraid or unsure of how to manage big emotions.
I show up in a steady, accepting and consistent way because I know how important it is (especially for sensitive kids) to feel emotionally safe before they can begin to express what's really going on.
My approach is grounded in play therapy because children don't always have the words, but they always have a way of communicating through play.
I meet them there.
Do you feel like no matter how much you support
your child, they still struggle with self-doubt, get easily overwhelmed, or seem hard on themselves... and you're not sure what else to do?
Maybe you're...
-
A loving and engaged parent who just wants the best for your child
-
Always looking out for your child and wanting to support them through difficult transitions
-
Feeling unsure if you're responding the "right" way in the moment
-
Trying different approaches, but nothing seems to stick for long
-
Wondering if you're being too gentle or not firm enough
-
Watching your child struggle with self-doubt or anxiety and not knowing how to help

You're doing your best to support them through it all.
You show up for your child every day (that alone says so much about the kind of parent you are). You've been there through scraped knees, first days of school, sleepless nights and silly giggles. You know your kid and see their potential, creativity and kindness.
But sometimes, you notice signs that something isn't quite right. Maybe they....
-
Get overwhelmed easily or feel unsure of themselves
-
Seem anxious, afraid, frustrated, self-critical or hard on themselves
-
Are sensitive to change, feedback or everyday challenges
-
Have big emotions that can be challenging to understand or respond to
Despite your efforts (maybe you've spent many nights Googling solutions), you still worry you're missing something. You might second-guess yourself and think, "Am I making this worse?" or "Why can't I figure this out?!"
The truth is, you're not alone. Needing support doesn't make you less of a parent...it makes you human. Kids don't come with manuals, and each kid's emotional needs are different.
Sometimes, part of supporting them means reaching out to professionals who specialize in helping kids navigate their emotions...and that's where play therapy in Knoxville can help.

How Play Therapy Helps Kids Feel More Secure in Who They Are
Kids don't always have the words to tell us how they feel, but they can and do communicate through play.
Play therapy is a research-based therapeutic approach that uses play, a child's natural language, to help them....
-
Explore, express and understand their emotions
-
Process difficult experiences in a manageable way
-
Build confidence and trust in themselves
-
Discover the inner strengths they already have and need to face life's challenges with resilience
You might wonder how play therapy is different from regular play.
Unlike regular playtime, which us more about fun, play therapy in Knoxville is guided by a trained therapist who uses specific types of play and responds in ways that help children process emotions, practice new skills, and work through challenges that may feel too big to explain with words.
Through toys, art, sensory activities, nature-based materials or storytelling, kids are able to express freely while being accepted and understood.
Through play therapy, your child can begin to...
-
Better understand themselves and their emotions
-
Feel more at ease and secure in who they are
-
Learn healthier ways to navigate worries, challenges, and big emotions
All while playing in a space where they feel safe to fully be themselves.

Why Blossom & Brush | Child Counseling Studio?
The name Blossom & Brush | Child Counseling Studio reflects the growth, creativity and healing I support children through in therapy.
"Blossom" speaks to the gentle unfolding that happens when a child feels safe, seen & understood. It also reflects the nature-based elements woven into sessions to support grounding, presence & connection with the world around them.
"Brush" evokes the image of a paintbrush, symbolizing the creative ways children express themselves through art, play & imagination. It reflects how they learn to move through life with more clarity, resilience and growing self-trust...eventually painting a path that is healthy, authentic and uniquely theirs.
My goal is to create a safe and inviting space for children to Blossom & Brush, fostering their inner resilience and self-acceptance and helping them navigate life's challenges with empowerment and a stronger sense of who they are through play therapy in Knoxville.
